Purely vegan restaurants in the organic hotels

Here you will find an overview of organic hotels and organic guesthouses that offer a purely vegan menu in the restaurant.

All accommodations shown here meet our requirements for a vegan organic hotel and are therefore ideal for vegans. The cuisine in these restaurants is 100% plant-based, meaning no products of animal origin.

Is purely vegan cuisine healthy - even for children?

The world's largest organizations of pediatricians and nutrition experts with university training, the American Society for Nutrition (Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, formerly ADA, American Dietetic Association) and the Canadian Society for Nutrition (Dietitians of Canada, DC, Association of Canadian Nutritionists) , took a clear stance on the health benefits of the vegan diet. A joint position paper states, among other things: " Well-planned vegan and other forms of vegetarian diets are suitable for all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, breastfeeding, early and later childhood and adolescence. How do vegans get their B12?

The question is not entirely unjustified, as it is often claimed that you can only get vitamin B12 from animal products. But this is not true. Vitamin B12 cannot simply be produced by plants, animals or humans. It only occurs when microorganisms are ingested, for example on unwashed organic vegetables or in the grass in a meadow. By eating organic vegetables from vegan farming that have not been carefully washed, you can partially supply yourself with B12. However, since this is not sufficient, vegans should supplement B12.

Hygiene is responsible that people should supplement B12

Today's hygiene alone has meant that people hardly come into contact with relevant microorganisms through traces of soil, berries and plants, through which our intestines would produce B12 themselves. To be on the safe side, many vegans take a B12 tablet regularly and the problem is solved. This is still better than consuming factory farmed meat. Animals in factory farming are either routinely mixed with B12 in their feed or are injected with it in order to be able to advertise this meat as supposedly “healthy”.

Organic vegan agriculture

Organic vegan agriculture is animal and environmentally friendly agriculture as an alternative to organic farming with animal fertilizers. Organic vegan or biocyclic vegan agriculture was only recognized as a standard in Germany in November 2017 by the International Association of Organic Agriculture Movements. Since then, there has been a recognized certification in Germany for companies that consistently produce according to organic-vegan guidelines.

In order to maintain soil fertility and incorporate the important plant nutrient nitrogen into the soil, fertilization is carried out using vegetable compost , adapted crop rotation or mulching , for example. In order to bring nutrients important for growth to fields, it is not necessary for grass to first pass through a cow's stomach.

Four components in particular are used to supply the vegan crop with nutrients:

  1. Nitrogen fertilization
  2. Carbon fertilization
  3. Phosphate fertilization
  4. active nutrient mobilization through mycorrhiza and long-term humus buildup

Organic vegan farming in Germany

Organic vegan farming in Germany, Austria and Switzerland is still in its infancy with 13 organic vegan businesses. According to the agricultural engineer and founder of the organic-vegan network in Germany, Daniel Mettke, the farms that produce organic-vegan produce "have a consistently positive balance in terms of economic efficiency and resource consumption ."

In Great Britain, the organic vegan cultivation system was developed in 1996 with the aim of establishing sustainable and ecological cultivation of food without animal ingredients.
