We congratulate the Eggensberger family on their 50th hotel anniversary!

When Rosemarie and Otto Eggensberger opened a Kneipp health resort with 38 beds on Lake Hopfensee in 1976, there was no trend towards "green travel". Their hotel was neither an organic destination nor a wellness temple, but even then, health, relaxation and hospitality were the focus. These are precisely the things that still define the Eggensberger today.

From an early age, son Andreas and his wife Heike focused on organic and sustainable practices. Even though they were initially ridiculed in the hotel industry, they pursued their vision relentlessly: photovoltaics with battery storage and electric car charging stations, their own combined heat and power plant, reduction of electromagnetic radiation, healthy sleep, building biology principles, and the organic farm run by his brother next door. (A little anecdote: To encourage his guests to leave their cars at home, the hotel owner even got his bus driver's license and personally drives them on excursions through the Allgäu region.)

Anyone who talks to Andreas Eggensberger quickly realizes that he is wholeheartedly dedicated to sustainable tourism. His energy and ideas aren't limited to his own business, however: he gladly shares his wealth of experience with colleagues who want to convert their operations to organic. He's also a driving force in our biohotels.de community – thank you for that!

Today, the Biohotel Eggensberger is a 4-star hotel with nearly 130 beds, 100% organic cuisine, medical wellness facilities with a therapy center and garden spa area, and employs a team of over 60 people. And with Johanna Eggensberger, the third generation is now at the helm as hotel director.

The hotel's anniversary was celebrated with a coffee gathering in a marquee, attended by over 100 guests, including employees, suppliers, business partners, and representatives from politics and business. biohotels.de also extends its warmest congratulations: Dear Eggensberger family, you are an inspiration and an inspiration to all hoteliers!

Resting on their laurels? That's not something the Eggensbergers are thinking about. Of course, they already have plans for the future, and the next big construction project is just around the corner – we're excited! From March 2027, the focus will once again be on guests in the new "heart" of the business.
