Description of the organic hotel features:
Sustainability at il nido – with heart, origin and attitude
Our farm next to il nido was converted to certified organic farming in the early 1990s – long before organic farming became trendy. We supplied our region with suckler cows, laying hens, potatoes and grain and relied on a true circular economy.
The combination of agriculture, craftsmanship and hospitality has remained with us – and forms the foundation for our il nido. The apartment building was built with a great deal of knowledge, attention to detail and a clear attitude towards sustainability:
Building with history: Larch wood from Holzleiten, an old oak tree from Stams Abbey and fine craftsmanship from the region combine modernity with Tyrolean tradition.
Healthy sleep & fine materials: mattresses and beds from the Waldviertel region, organic textiles from an experienced hotel supplier – uncompromisingly ecological and high-quality.
Regionally rooted: From the architecture to the furnishings, il nido stands for authenticity and respectful use of resources.
Pioneering spirit included: Ludwig, host and founder of BIO HOTELS, brings over 20 years of experience in sustainable tourism – lived responsibility instead of greenwashing.
il nido is not a marketing project – but a place close to the heart for people who love nature, peace and quality. Welcome.

Description of sustainability:
Sustainability that lasts.
Sustainability begins with the decisions you make – like in the construction of il nido. We have consistently relied on natural, regional, and durable materials:
• Larch wood from Holzleiten
• A reused oak tree from Stams Abbey
• Mattresses, beds, and textiles from the Waldviertel region
Everything comes from responsible production – ecologically sound and implemented with regional craftsmanship.
A special principle has guided us for decades:
Fossil fuels have never been used on our farm for heating or hot water.
Instead: wood from our own forestry, supplemented by modern technology and solar energy. Fossil fuels are currently only used for vehicles.
il nido thus stands for true sustainability – not as a label, but as a lived attitude. -

Description of the environment:
Our surroundings – between summit happiness and slowing down time
il nido is located in the Tyrolean Gurgltal, on the sunny side of the Fernpass – where nature, history and serenity meet. Surrounded by the mighty peaks of the Lechtal Alps and the Mieminger Chain, a habitat opens up here that is both powerful and calming. Those who come here are not looking for hustle and bustle – but for the real thing.
Between tradition and freedom
Nassereith is a historic village with a rural origin, living customs and warm reserve. Even today, the carnival (with its elaborately carved masks) shapes the cultural identity of the town. The village center invites you to take a leisurely stroll, the small museum offers a journey through time – all without the hustle and bustle of tourists.
At the same time, Nassereith is a place of transition: for centuries, the Fernpass was one of the most important Alpine routes. Old Roman roads, pilgrimage routes and legends bear witness to this. Today the region is a perfect starting point for nature lovers, mountain people, families and quiet connoisseurs.
Nature begins on your doorstep
Whether sunrise over the mountains or evening silence in the valley – the nature experience begins right around il nido. It is an ideal retreat for those who enjoy being outdoors:
• Forests & Alpine pastures: In just a few minutes’ walk you are surrounded by greenery – whether for forest bathing, collecting herbs or for your next mountain tour.
• Fernsteinsee & Samarangersee: Emerald green lakes in a magical setting – ideal for a short hike or a picnic.
• Rosengartenschlucht & Lechauen: Wild waters and quiet nature reserves offer spectacular and meditative impressions.
• Mountain panorama & far-reaching views: The peaks reach over 2,500m above sea level – but the view is also magnificent from our roof terrace or the garden lounger.
Ideal starting point – central yet far from the hustle and bustle
• Innsbruck: Reachable in about 45 minutes – with the old town, the Golden Roof, art, cuisine and urban flair.
• Imst & Landeck: The charming district towns with weekly markets, museums and nice cafés are just a few minutes' drive away.
• Reutte & the Außerfern: If you love castles and lakes, you will find a variety of options here – from the highline179 to quiet natural pools.
South Tyrol (Merano, Bolzano) and the Allgäu are also easily accessible as day trips.
Quiet oases & lively places
The surroundings of il nido are not made for quickly ticking off sights – they invite you to stay, look, and listen. Instead of attractions every minute, here you will find:
• Places that touch you – a hidden waterfall, an old tree, a quiet bench at the edge of the forest.
• Farms with soul – direct marketers who produce their products with love and inns where time ticks more slowly.
• Encounters that last – with people who not only appreciate nature, but live in it.

Our recommendation:
