Description Organic hotel

The ChieneHuus is located in the Kiental (Bernese Oberland). It is a retreat house in natural Holz100 construction in harmony with nature. The house is characterized by its building biology quality as well as the natural and high-quality materials. The pollutant-free, health-promoting construction (free of wood preservatives and glue) ensures a unique atmosphere.
The hotel opened in 2018 and is the newest child of the Kientalerhof. The ChieneHuus is primarily aimed at those seeking peace and quiet who want retreat and relaxation and want to be pampered with one of our soothing offers.

  • Description of the organic hotel features: We paid attention to accessibility when we built the ChieneHuus. In the basement of the ChieneHuus there is a spacious, barrier-free double room for guests with walking difficulties. In addition, a lift connects the basement with the upper floors. This means that all holiday apartments and rooms can be reached with a wheelchair or walker. Unfortunately, the attic with the treatment rooms could not be accessed by elevator for structural reasons.

  • Description of sustainability: The ChieneHuus is exemplary when it comes to sustainability. It is characterized by its building biology quality as well as the natural and high-quality materials. As a result, guests experience an extremely health-promoting quality of living and sleeping.

    Avoidance of electrosmog: When designing the building, we attach particular importance to avoiding and shielding radiation. For this we only use shielded power cables and mains circuit breakers. Furthermore, there is deliberately no WiFi in the guest rooms and there are no TVs. Internet connection is possible via LAN cable. Holz100 provides optimal shielding and reduction of high-frequency radiation (mobile communications).

    We also focus on sustainability to increase the quality of sleep: the bed frames are made of oiled, solid oak wood and a metal-free wooden slatted frame. The natural mattress has a 5-zone natural latex core, covered with cotton and virgin wool, an inner cover made of light cotton fabric and an outer cover made of robust cotton body. The contents of the duvet and pillow consist of 80% bamboo and 20% corn fibers. The bed linen and towels are made from sustainably sourced and natural organic cotton fabrics.

  • Description of the gastronomy: A focus and a key concern of our kitchen is the ecological balance. It is therefore important to us that the emissions generated by our food production are as low as possible. For us, it goes without saying that we prefer regional and seasonal products and producers. 70% of our food comes from organic production.

  • Description of hotel and room facilities: Our spacious double rooms (27m2) are equipped with natural interior walls (wood 100 or clay) and oiled oak floors. Whether the freshly scented pine wood or the clay walls in earthy colors – the double rooms have a calming effect. The subtle furnishings also contribute to this effect.     The Kiental also has a lot to offer in winter. In the immediate vicinity of the village of Kiental you will find the 7km long Ramslauenen toboggan run, which is accessible by a chairlift. In January and February you can even go sleigh rides by moonlight. The Ramslauenen area also has a ski lift and some easy to moderate slopes (further information and piste map). Snowshoe tours (a total of 30km of marked routes) and cross-country skiing are also possible. There is also a natural ice rink not far from the village of Kiental.
