Today we'd like to celebrate a very special anniversary with you: We're proud to announce that our network is growing and now boasts 200 sustainable member hotels! This strong signal demonstrates that eco-friendly tourism is important to people—and more and more hosts are meeting our high organic and environmental standards.
Why 200 is so important
In 2021, we celebrated our 20th anniversary with around 80 members. It all began with a small group of environmentally committed hosts in Europe. Today, we have 200 establishments in at least six countries , all pioneers in organic cuisine, green electricity, carbon offsetting, and holistic resource conservation.
The fact that we've doubled in size speaks volumes about the strong trust you place in our network. Each hotel continues to meet the strictest criteria:
- At least 50% organic, target 100% in the kitchen
- At least one vegetarian — ideally vegan — menu
- No factory farming, genetic engineering and glyphosate
- Use of renewable energies, waste avoidance, water saving
- Regular COâ‚‚ balances with many climate-neutral or climate-positive companies
