The Baltic Sea is one of the most popular German holiday regions. In the hinterland, a number of farms have specialized in a sustainable organic economy. They supply the organic hotels on the Baltic Sea with their products, thereby strengthening their region. The short transport routes also serve to protect the environment. Holidaymakers by the sea and the Baltic Sea can enjoy local, organically certified specialties in the organic hotel there.

Experience the sea: A holiday on the Baltic Sea is always worth it. Many of the hotels there now operate biotourism . This attracts guests interested in sustainability who, on the one hand, want to enjoy the sun, beach and sea , and on the other hand also want to visit the old Hanseatic cities of Rostock and Wismar. There is a lot to see there. With an area of 100 x 100 m, Wismar has one of the largest market squares in northern Germany, where the Wismar landmark is the water art, built in 1602 in the Renaissance style. Other sights include the classicist town hall and a brick-Gothic town house from 1360, which is now home to the Alter Schwede restaurant. In the market area, the streets from the Middle Ages and Classicism were extensively renovated. Visitors to the city also like to look at the Wismarer Fürstenhof, a brick Renaissance building with rich terracotta decorations.
Rostock also has a very interesting stock of old buildings in the relatively uniform historic city center. The typical Hanseatic brick Gothic style can be seen there. One of her main works is the Rostock St. Mary's Church right in the city center, whose mighty western building with its tower towers over the center. Construction of the basilica with three naves began as early as 1290 and was not completed until around 1450. The St. Petri Church is considered the nucleus of Rostock. The city also has a Gothic town hall, which was built in the 13th century and received its current baroque facade in 1727. Other magnificent Gothic buildings include the Hausbaum, Kerkhoff, Ratschow and Krahnstöver merchant houses. Three city gates have been preserved from Rostock's medieval city fortifications. Of course, Wismar and Rostock are not the only cities worth seeing on the Baltic Sea. This has many beautiful holiday regions.
An organic holiday on the Baltic Sea is worth it here, among other things:
In terms of cuisine, the Baltic Sea is heavily oriented towards fish, which can be prepared sustainably and therefore goes perfectly with an organic holiday on the Baltic Sea. The classics are of course the plaice fillet and the fish roll, but there are definitely bigger culinary attractions. Only on the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic Sea coast is the so-called Schnüüsch a typical summer dish, which is said to have come from the Germanic Angeliter tribe. This is a colorful vegetable soup with different types of beans, peas, kohlrabi, carrots and potatoes in milk. The vegetables are either cooked in the milk straight away or steamed first - then the boiled milk is added at the end. Typical spices for Schnüüsch are parsley, savory and white pepper. It also includes a lot of butter. As a side dish there is pickled herring or Holstein ham. In the Darß region there is Darßer hemp soup, which is also hundreds of years old. The twice-baked Baltic Sea herring can be found all along the coast, while Königsberger Klopse are often served on Rügen. Coastal chefs use cod to create many specialties.

A number of star chefs have settled on Rügen and Usedom; the islands are worth a trip for culinary reasons alone. A relatively simple dish is the Zingster turnip stew, which, like Klüten and Pear (pear soup with dough balls), used to be a dish for simple people and now delights tourists. On Rügen, holiday guests on an organic holiday on the Baltic Sea should not miss the apple cake, whose special feature is the high proportion of cream and butter. The Rügen carp - baked and served with lots of vegetables and horseradish - is also only available here. The only competition it has is from Rügen cream herring. The organic hotels on the Baltic Sea also serve these delicacies in first-class organic quality. They taste particularly good after swimming in the sea, hiking on the cliffs or cycling past the windmills.
