Organic vacation in the Waldachtal

Organic vacation in the Waldachtal - Biohotels.de

Gentle, wooded hills and meadow valleys are typical for this region in the Black Forest . If you want to spend a health-promoting holiday close to nature in good air, this is the right place! The community of Waldachtal has around 5,700 inhabitants. It belongs to the Freudenstadt district and consists of five towns (Cresbach, Hörschweiler, Lützenhardt, Salzstetten, Tumlingen). The Waldach river rises near Waldachtal-Lützenhardt and flows through the municipalities of Pfalzgrafenweiler and Haiterbach and flows into the Nagold river near the municipality of Nagold.

Hiking and sports

Tourists vacationing in the Waldachtal have many hiking opportunities. Some romantic castle ruins make good hiking destinations. For example, there is the Rüdenberg castle ruins, which stand on a 555 m high hill in the Waldachtal area. Pfalzgrafenweiler even has two ruins, namely Vörbach (from the 12th century, only a few remains of the wall remain) and Mandelberg. Mandelberg Castle was built in the 13th century. The walls around the castle courtyard and a cistern have been preserved. The keep has been beautifully renovated and serves as a lookout tower. It's worth climbing up and enjoying the view over the Waldachtal (and beyond!). An interesting and not very strenuous hiking route is the Bible circular trail near Waldachtal-Tumlingen. Information boards about Bible stories can be found along the 900 m long wheelchair-accessible path. There are plants mentioned in the Bible along the way. The “Badepark Nagold” guarantees year-round bathing fun. It consists of an indoor pool and an outdoor pool area. Outside, during the summer season, bathers can swim in the sports pool (with diving facilities and counter-current channel) or play beach volleyball or table tennis. There is a whole small swimming area with a pool and sandpit for children. There is also a water mushroom and a giant slide. The Waldachtal is just as idyllic in winter as it is in summer; It's a leisurely affair: there are no big slopes for downhill skiers here, but there are plenty of beautiful paths for winter hiking and cross-country skiing. Parents with children could go sledding or ice skating on a frozen lake!

An idyllic hiking trail: the Waldachtaler Heimatweg

In 2002, the Black Forest Association marked a 24 km long hiking trail through the Waldachtal. This Waldachtaler Heimatweg leads past some very interesting sights. It's worth taking this path! Maybe spread over two or three days? Three lakes that are ideal for swimming with their clean water are located on the hiking trail, namely the Tumlinger See, the Sandbühlsee and the Breitenbachsee. In winter you can ice skate on the lakes! On the route, hikers pass a particularly idyllic place: the historic Mönchhof sawmill is located in a meadow valley! The mill was built in the 15th century. It can be viewed by arrangement. The Heiligenbronn pilgrimage church is also on the way. The church (built around 1742 in the Baroque style) makes a wonderful photo opportunity. A beautiful garden with the Lourdes Grotto and fourteen Stations of the Cross extends around the church.

Wellness, enjoyment and a look into the local museum

A visit to the “Wellness Forest” in Waldachtal is recommended for all guests who would like to relax and meditate. The “wellness forest” is actually a well-kept forest meadow with a stream, bridges and places to relax. Good water flows from the drinking fountain, and a wind harp provides mysterious and dreamlike sounds. Some of the hotels in the Waldachtal have their own wellness offers. In general, the range of hosts is large: hotels and guesthouses offer rooms; For families with children who would like to look after themselves, a holiday apartment would also be a good and inexpensive option. The gastronomy in the Waldachtal is very diverse - from ice cream parlors to pizzerias to traditional inns. Black Forest cuisine with its specialties (ham, trout...) is particularly well cared for here. Anyone who is interested in Black Forest traditions should pay a visit to the local history museum in Waldachtal-Lützenhardt. Beautiful Black Forest costumes are on display!
