Game meat is not organic meat

Game meat is not organic meat - Biohotels.de

Some suppliers of game meat advertise their products as being organic. But meat from wild animals is not organic meat and generally cannot be advertised as “organic”. “Organic game meat” is a consumer deception.

According to the EU organic regulation, neither ecological nor organic

Wild animals do not fall within the scope of the EU Organic Regulation. The EU Organic Regulation makes it clear that hunting products are neither considered “organic” nor “organic”. Keeping wild animals in an enclosure according to ecological criteria is a different topic.

Game meat from hunting cannot be organic

Products from hunting and fishing are clearly not considered organic. The terms “eco” and “organic” are therefore out of place here.

Game from enclosures is available in organic quality

Species that actually live in the wild, such as wild boars, deer or roe deer, can be kept in an enclosure in compliance with the criteria of the EU Organic Regulation and the EU Organic Implementation Regulation and can then be described as “organic”. For example, products from a deer enclosure can be described as “organic deer salami”.

Wild animals eat glyphosate

Hunters like to justify shooting wild animals by saying that wild boars and deer cause damage to fields and therefore have to be shot. Since many fields are treated with glyphosate, meat from deer, wild boar and rabbits logically cannot be organic if they have eaten plants from fields sprayed with the toxic and harmful weed killer.

Meat from hunting more than organic?

Slogans like “more than organic” and similar ones are not appropriate for meat from wild animals. Since carcinogenic and kidney-damaging lead residues are regularly found in game meat, there can be no question of “organic” or “healthy” in connection with game.
