Nature vacation in Bad Gastein

Nature vacation in Bad Gastein - Biohotels.de

The Gasteinertal holiday region with the towns of Bad Gastein, Bad Hofgastein and Dorfgastein is located right in the heart of Salzburgerland. With its diverse flora and fauna, the valley is one of the most popular hiking areas in the Alpine region.

In summer, the Gastein Valley offers attractive hiking trails for running or bike tours in and around the Hohe Tauern National Park. In winter, both beginners and advanced skiers will find slopes and trails of all levels of difficulty in a snow-sure winter paradise.

Hohe Tauern National Park

With an area of more than 1,800 km², the Hohe Tauern National Park, established in 1981, is Austria's first national park and at the same time by far the largest protected area in the Alps. The federal states of Salzburg, Carinthia and Tyrol are involved in the protected area.

The park is ideal for adventurous hikes with the family, where you can, among other things, visit the "Glocknerblick" viewing platform, Europe's highest suspension bridge (suspension bridge on the Stubnerkogel) or discover funny rock creatures. With a bit of luck you can see ibex, marmots and ptarmigans, which are among the national park's most famous wild animals.

Bad Gastein in Salzburg

Bad Gastein lies in fresh mountain air at the foot of the Graukogel at 1,000 meters above sea level and is one of the national park communities of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Here in the popular spa, recreation and winter sports resort, healing spring water has been bubbling from the ancient rock of the Tauern for thousands of years.

The town's landmark is the Gastein waterfall, which has been a popular motif for many painters. The total fall height of the Gasteiner Ache is 200 meters.

Felsentherme Gastein

Already in the Middle Ages, people knew about the healing power of the beneficial Bad Gastein thermal water, several million liters of which bubble up to the surface every day from 18 springs deep in the mountains.

One million liters of water, which is naturally rich in radon and slightly minerals, flows into the pools of the Felsentherme Bad Gastein with an outlet temperature of up to 46°C. Anyone who bathes here harmonizes their body functions and revitalizes their cells, blood circulation improves, muscles relax and you simply enjoy the positive overall effect of the thermal water.

Gastein healing tunnel

The Gasteiner Heilstollen is a health center that is particularly popular with rheumatism patients. A treatment period of two to four weeks is recommended. The combination of high humidity, heat and radon makes the healing tunnel a unique form of therapy worldwide.

The scientifically proven effects of radon therapy include long-lasting pain relief, saving on medication and stabilizing the immune system. Radon therapy, which is based on therapy entrances into natural radon tunnels, is recognized by German and Austrian health insurance companies.

Suspension bridge on the Stubnerkogel

The 140 meter long and one meter wide suspension bridge on the Stubnerkogel in Bad Gastein is located at 2,300 meters above sea level, leads over an approximately 28 meter deep abyss and is accessible all year round. What is particularly exciting is that the rope construction is transparent to all sides - including downwards. From the suspension bridge you can hike along a circular path to the mountain attractions Glocknerblick and Felsenweg.

If you don't dare cross the suspension bridge, you can also take the safe footpath that runs parallel to the bridge to get to the other side and still enjoy the beautiful panorama of the Hohe Tauern.
