The climate footprint for food from conventional and organic farming when purchased in stores speaks for itself: products from organic farming perform better than products from conventional farming .
Organically grown food improves your own CO2 balance. If these products are also purchased regionally and seasonally , the pollution is reduced even further because regional products do not have to be transported far. Reduced transport routes and reduced storage requirements also protect the climate. Local providers are also supported. Local produce and seasonal fruits and vegetables also tend to be fresher and more nutritious .
A truly sustainable lifestyle while consuming animal foods (especially meat and cheese) is not possible with a clear conscience. A plant-based, i.e. vegan, diet causes significantly fewer harmful greenhouse gases, as the following tables make clear:

Fortunately, as the population places more and more value on healthy, organic food, the share of organic farming in agriculture has been steadily increasing for years. As of the end of 2018, the share of organic farms in total agriculture in Germany was 12 percent and is expected to rise to 20 percent by 2030.
