Description Organic hotel
Stay in one of Schmilka's most historic houses – a special district of the town of Bad Schandau, nestled in the impressive landscape of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The sophisticated building in elegant spa style has been lovingly and respectfully restored and bears the name of the daughter of the former owner Rudolf Hering.
The two premium apartments were renovated according to ecological building principles and combine historical charm with contemporary, conscious living. Natural materials, a tranquil atmosphere and views of the surrounding nature create ideal conditions for a relaxing break.
The location is as extraordinary as it is inspiring: Here the Malerweg and the Elbe Cycle Path intersect. Located directly on the Elbe River, it offers a wide view of the river, rocks and mountains – a 360° panorama that provides new perspectives in every season. Whether hiking, cycling or consciously pausing: This house is a place where nature, history and deceleration come together harmoniously.

Description of sustainability:
Sustainability shapes your stay in Schmilka in many ways. In our kitchen, we prioritize high-quality, organically grown ingredients, preferably from the region, and fresh, mindful preparation. We also act responsibly in our energy use: the hotel operates on green electricity from renewable sources, supplemented by efficient concepts such as solar energy and waste heat recovery.
Another focus is on the sustainable management of the building structure. The historic buildings have been ecologically renovated, and the guest rooms have been designed according to ecological building principles. Natural materials such as soaped wooden floors, natural paints and textiles, and natural latex mattresses ensure a healthy and comfortable living environment. A low-electrosmog indoor climate promotes peace and relaxation during your stay. -

Description of the SPA area:
Just let go and find peace…
Our spa area is a place of quiet relaxation. The careful renovation of the bathhouse focused on a holistic approach and ecological building principles. Natural materials such as clay, chopped hay and quark plaster on the walls, as well as local, simply soaped woods, create a healthy indoor climate. The subtle scent of the wood has a calming effect and supports conscious relaxation. Soothing sauna infusions with pure essential oils make every sauna session a special experience. Gemstone water accompanies your time out and supports conscious regeneration.
The panoramic sauna offers a view of the picturesque mill courtyard. Relax in the classic Finnish sauna at 90°C or enjoy the gentler bio sauna at 65–70°C – ideal for recharging your batteries after a day in nature.
The spa offerings are complemented by soothing massages and selected wellness treatments that specifically contribute to relaxation and harmonize body and mind. For guests who would like more holistic support, the naturopathic practice is available. Here, alternative practitioner and nutritionist Norbert Schützner offers individually tailored naturopathic health treatments.
A special bonus for guests of the luxury apartment Bel Etage: The private sauna within the apartment allows for undisturbed wellness moments in soothing privacy – completely independent of opening hours.
