Description Organic hotel
The house, located directly on the Malerweg (Painters' Way) hiking trail, is simply and rustically furnished in the style of the 1930s. Abundant wood and warm colors give the guesthouse the charm of a cozy hikers' hostel in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. A living room with a wood-burning stove adds to the comfortable, rustic atmosphere.
Ten rooms on three floors await hikers, climbers, and cyclists. From single and double rooms to triple rooms, the mountain lodge offers comfortable accommodations for solo travelers, couples, and groups in Schmilka, the unique district of Bad Schandau.

- Description of room amenities: The Schmilka Bio- and National Park Refuge is a so-called "Alberghi Diffus"—Italian for "scattered hotel." This means that the rooms, apartments, holiday homes, reception, restaurants, and workshops are not all housed in the same building. The village of Schmilka itself thus becomes the hotel: rooms and holiday apartments are scattered throughout the village, rather than being lined up along a long corridor on several floors as is typical.

Details on construction methods and room concepts:
With us, you book more than just an overnight stay. The Schmilka experience combines conscious sleep, organic cuisine and special experiences.
The Berghaus Rauschenstein was renovated and designed according to ecological building principles. Natural materials such as soaped wooden floors, natural paints and textiles, and natural latex mattresses characterize the guest rooms.
Schmilka's holistic approach is also evident in its year-round cultural and experiential programs, the so-called rituals. Look forward to a wide range of activities such as morning yoga, guided hikes, workshops and sound meditations. Guided tours of the historic mill and the in-house brewery also offer visitors the opportunity to get to know Schmilka and its history better.
In addition to the wellness offerings, the naturopathic practice of naturopath and nutritionist Norbert Schützner is located in Schmilka. He offers individually tailored naturopathic health treatments as well as therapeutic and relaxing massages.

Details of the implemented measures:
In Schmilka, we focus on concrete measures and a conscious use of resources in many areas. In our kitchen, we use high-quality, certified organic ingredients and prefer – where possible – seasonal produce from the region. Fresh preparation and on-site processing are part of our understanding of honest cuisine.
We also rely on concrete solutions when it comes to energy use: The facility is powered by green electricity from renewable sources. The energy concept is complemented by solar energy and the use of waste heat. Electric cars and a private herb, vegetable and tomato garden are further building blocks of the Schmilka concept.
Another focus is on the careful handling of the existing building fabric. The Berghaus Rauschenstein was renovated and designed according to ecological building principles. Natural materials such as soaped wooden floorboards, natural paints and textiles, and natural latex mattresses characterize the guest rooms and underline the original character of the house.
-
Description of the spa offer:
Just let your mind wander…
The focus during the careful renovation of our bathhouse was on holistic well-being. Designed according to ecological building principles, natural materials such as clay, chopped hay and quark plaster on the walls, as well as local, only soaped woods, characterize the special atmosphere of the bathhouse. The subtle scent of the wood complements the relaxed atmosphere. Soothing sauna infusions with pure essential oils make every sauna session a special treat. Gemstone water is available for your refreshment between sauna sessions.
Our panoramic sauna impresses with its view of the picturesque mill courtyard. Relax in the classic Finnish sauna at 90°C or enjoy the gentler bio sauna at 65–70°C – ideal for a relaxing break.
The bathhouse experience is complemented by a diverse range of massages and health treatments in the naturopathic practice of alternative practitioner and nutritionist Norbert Schützner. He offers individually tailored services – from relaxing massages to therapeutic treatments. - spa
