Hotel rooms for allergy sufferers

Even when on vacation, an allergy sufferer must make sure that they get a room that is suitable for allergy sufferers - also known as an allergy sufferer's room in the hotel industry. Since people suffering from allergies have to struggle through everyday life, they should at least have peace of mind while on vacation. Since there are of course a wide variety of allergies, you should always check with the hotel beforehand whether the rooms in question are equipped so that nothing stands in the way of a carefree holiday.

It is particularly important for people with house dust allergies that the floor covering is not a dust catcher. This means that the room should have tiled or parquet floors or very easy-to-clean carpets. Walls should be as smooth and structured as possible and therefore not provide a large surface for dust to attack. Instead of bulky curtains, only light curtains should darken the room. Good ventilation is also important so that allergy sufferers do not experience symptoms such as watery eyes, itching, coughing fits or even shortness of breath. Optimally, the mattress in such a hotel room is covered with a mite- and allergen-proof mattress cover. In the case of double beds, both beds should have such a cover. Of course, the same applies to the duvet and pillows, which should be covered with allergy-free bed linen .

For those who are allergic to mold, the bathroom in particular should be well ventilated and there should be no damp walls in the hotel room. Thorough ventilation and proper heating are a priority here in order to get moisture out of the rooms.

What is often not considered: the cleaning products! The rooms should only be cleaned with biodegradable cleaning products for allergy sufferers.

In a hotel for allergy sufferers it is also important that smoking is never allowed there, shedding pets are completely forbidden, the air conditioning can be switched off, windows can be opened and the heating can be controlled by the guest. Special cleaning devices such as an air purifier in rooms for allergy sufferers are very beneficial.
